As much as Verity wanted to be out there, dealing with tremens herself, her first priority had been getting Liam safely home. She went with her home over his, since he still didn't have a real bed, though considering the state of her cupboards, maybe his place would have been the better idea after all.
But hey, this was Fandom. Takeout during an invasion was a thing, wasn't it? Especially if she tipped really well?
Whatever, they could make it work. Maybe Liam would believe that stale tortilla omelettes were a common Pacific Northwest breakfast food.
...She needed to go grocery shopping like whoa.
[For the guy!]

Date: 2018-04-24 03:50 pm (UTC)Even after a year on the island, Verity's imagination could sometimes be disappointingly small.

Date: 2018-04-24 03:58 pm (UTC)Liam hadn't even known they had raccoons on the island until that particular incident.

Date: 2018-04-25 06:35 am (UTC)She'd just gotten bread last week, she knew that much. Because grilled cheese was almost real food. Which meant she probably still had cheese, too, since the mice wouldn't go near Kraft singles.

Date: 2018-04-25 05:09 pm (UTC)Was it butter? It was probably butter. Verity couldn't say whether she had butter in the house if you paid her.

Date: 2018-04-25 09:10 pm (UTC)That was one grocery item she definitely remembered purchasing. A box of tea--not Lipton's but the real stuff--for when Liam came over to visit.

Date: 2018-04-25 09:35 pm (UTC)Your girlfriend was mean, Liam.

Date: 2018-04-25 09:51 pm (UTC)"Well," Liam said. "It's not like we couldn't go back to the latter after I check out this present of yours," he reasoned. "I mean. Neither of us exactly has plans to go anywhere at the moment," he added, watching Verity's reaction carefully. He was feeling somewhat guilty about not being out there himself, but the events of Friday evening were still just a little too fresh in his mind to really want to subject himself to that possibility again just now.

Date: 2018-04-26 06:40 am (UTC)He headed in to the kitchen, making a beeline for the cupboard Verity had mentioned. A warm feeling bloomed in his chest when he spotted the tea, at the idea that his presence was welcome, invited. Which, yes, she'd said as much, previously, but this was... tangible evidence.
A bit of scrounging in the fridge turned up the eggs Verity had mentioned, as well as a few slices of ham that passed the sniff test, and some not-really-cheese. Not exactly the ingredients of a gourmet omelette, but they'd do. And she did have actual bread, so there were no stale tortillas involved!
So a few minutes later he was back, carefully balancing a tray with a couple of plates of omelettes and toast, as well as coffee for Verity and tea for himself.
"Figured since I was up anyway, might as well take care of the food question," he explained.
