So, with the past week, Liam had had plenty of time to experience being around blanket forts, but Verity was pretty sure he'd still never had the fun of building one. So she'd sent him out to the store for some snacks, citing a long-overdue call with Sarah for why she couldn't accompany him and after said call (in which she harangued her cousin to at least talk to Artie, for god's sake, and also to come back to Baltimore), she stripped all the linens off their bed and grabbed everything from the closet and left it all in a giant pile on the floor for Liam to spot when he came home.

Shut up, this was totally for Liam's benefit and not at all because the past week had Verity feeling nostalgic or anything.

"Of course it is!" Verity argued. "For...reasons!"

Reasons she wasn't actually supplying.

“Name one.”

Liam was clearly not buying what she was selling.

"I would do more damage if I was trying to hurt," Verity sniffed.

[firstofitskind]

“True,” Liam conceded. “But I still don’t think it’s unreasonable to want to avoid ‘damage’ while doing something like snuggling together in this very cozy fort we’ve made,” he pointed out.

Verity grumbled a bit, sulking next to him. Still, she had to concede that he had a point. "Okay, so what do you think we should watch?"

“Well, there’s that other new show, about the guy who wanders around saving people from monsters?”

Which was a) different from actively seeking out non-humans to kill and b) a departure from his usual, considering Liam was the kind of nerd who gravitated towards documentaries when it was his turn to pick.

"Aww, you don't wanna watch the documentary on the tiger guy?" Verity teased. "I thought for sure that would be your pick."

Documentary was being generous.

Yeah, Liam liked a little more information and a little less sensationalism in his documentaries, oh my god.

“What about me makes you think I would want to watch anything about a guy who is essentially a hoarder?”

Of living creatures, Verity!

"I hear there's a whole episode about an unexplained disappearance where the victim was probably fed to a tiger," Verity offered.

Yeah, that was just going to get her an extremely affronted look, because oh my god.

"But it's a documentary," Verity reminded.

She was such a troll and Liam deserved better

She was absolutely a troll and Liam loved her anyway. Though that wasn't stopping him from affording her an absolutely withering look.

"You saying you don't want to watch the show about the hot guy with the big... sword?"

"I could probably be convinced," Verity said. "Tell me more about these 'monsters' that he kills?"

"Oh, they're definitely the 'menacing the townsfolk' types," Liam assured her. "Sometimes he doesn't even need to kill them, just breaks a curse or whatever."

[arboreal_priestess]

"Not-killing is good," Verity mused. "Taking a few minutes to try to figure out what's really going on is key." She shifted around to pull out her phone. "You get the show set up, I'll call for delivery? We'll eat in the fort?"

"It's a plan," Liam agreed, already digging around in the pillows for where they'd stashed the remote.
