MHA #6, Valentine's Day Evening

It was Valentine's Day and while it wasn't their first Valentine's Day together, the last one had still been early enough on that neither of them had really known what they were doing. As a couple. This time, however, 'I love you's' had been exchanged and so had keys, he'd met her family, he hadn't run screaming from her family, and he'd even rescued her from a snake cult. Those were a lot of relationship milestones right there, even if some were Price-exclusive.

So tonight she'd sent the mice off to gorge on cake and cheese in their closet in the spare room, turned the lights to dim, turned some slow music on, and started cooking dinner. The one flaw in her holiday plans so far was that she'd naively assumed that 'an ability to cook basic food' meant that she was fully qualified to cook elaborate romantic meals.

She was vastly learning that this was in error.

"What? Emulsify? I've got a spatula and a slotted spoon, how the hell am I supposed to do that?!"

[For the boyfriend!]

"Is that a hint?" Verity teased. She leaned down and gently caught his throat between her teeth, before lightly sucking on that spot. Not enough to leave a mark - for now.

Maybe she would mark him. Later. Oooh.

Liam flicked his tongue out, swirling it around the tip of her finger. “Could be,” he said, letting that finger go.

For the record, he would absolutely be on board with this marking plan.

"But now imagine that I'm busy 'making things up to you', and then we're interrupted by the delivery person," Verity murmured, her lips traveling over his throat. "Would you really want me to stop so we could answer the door?"

“... No,” Liam admitted, with obvious reluctance. Ugh, Verity, how dare you with that logic?

Verity picked her head up and grinned at his tone. "Let's just be good and watch the movie, huh?" she suggested. "We can just, like, curl up and hold hands or something."

Trust that smile, Liam! Go on, trust it!

Of course, she was talking to someone for whom, in its own way, ‘holding hands’ was akin to making out...

“Wouldn’t be very nice of us to make the poor delivery person come all the way out here just for us to never answer the door,” Liam mused. “‘Be good’ it is.”

"Good on us for being mature," Verity said, starting the movie and making herself comfortable. On him.

Look, he sat on the couch, she sat on him, it all worked out.

"And as the movie opened up with them in couples counseling, Verity took his hand. And immediately began thinking of the dirtiest things she could.

Oh, Liam. You really should've known better. Not that he was complaining. Nope. That low, desperate noise he made in the back of his throat? Not a complaint.

It was a good thing that connection between them went both ways, because Liam had some dirty thoughts of his own that he needed to share.

"You know," Verity said, oddly out of breath for someone who was just sitting back and watching a movie, "when the food comes we just have to open the door, right? We don't actually have to eat it immediately. Just make sure we have it."

“And that the delivery person gets paid,” Liam added. “S’important.” Because he wasn’t about to be rude to whoever got saddled with delivery duty tonight.

"Yeah, exactly," Verity said. "But once that happens and the door is closed..."

The image she sent him was very detailed and explicit and most certainly did not involve eating dinner while it was still hot.

"But until then," Liam said. "We probably shouldn't... do anything else. That's not sitting here."

You know, because they'd been so successful at that so far.

Reluctantly, Verity claimed her hand back and shifted to the other side of the couch. "This is the worst," she sulked.

"I can think of several worse things," Liam replied. Mostly because listing them off gave him something to focus on that wasn't those extremely dirty thoughts they'd both been thinking. "Either one of us being sick today, one of us being out of town for whatever reason, me turning in to a cat again," a beat. "Me being replaced by the real Liam Kincaid."

"Okay, if you turn into a cat on any major holiday, I swear you will never hear the end of it," Verity informed him.

"... How is that any different from what you do now?"

It had been nearly four months since the last time that had happened, Verity, and you absolutely still gave him shit for it.

"But I'll be upset when I do it this time," Verity assured him. "It'll definitely be different."

The doorbell rang and Verity practically went weak-kneed with relief. "Thank fuck."

So classy.

"No, that's after we get the food," Liam retorted, getting up to answer the door.

A couple minutes later, he was back, bag of takeout in hand, which was deposited on the coffee table without much ceremony. Followed by Liam flopping on to the couch once again and pulling Verity back on to his lap.

"Now," he drawled, "Where were we?"

Verity shifted around until she was straddling his lap and pulled his face up to hers. "I believe I was about to kiss you silly," she said, voice husky and soft.

"Best get on with it," Liam teased, "Or I might decide we need to pause for dinner after all."

He absolutely would not.

"Now there's a threat I'm not willing to risk," Verity said and lowered her mouth to his, tongue flicking over the seam of his lips to demand entry.

Which he happily provided, tongue meeting hers and wrestling for dominance.

"I'm John Cena!" Verity yelled and slammed Liam's down onto the mat

She followed up by sliding her hands up his chest, her legs wrapping around his waist, trying to get closer. Still far too many layers between them.

Well, that could be solved readily enough?

His shirt was still only half-buttoned, after all, since he hadn't bothered fixing it after they'd been interrupted by the paella crisis.

Stupid paella.

Her hands hastily worked at his buttons, nearly popping them off in her impatience to spread open his shirt and push it at least part way down his shoulders. Once that herculean task was completed, she went back to skimming her fingers over him, feeling the contrast of his soft skin over hard muscle.

Yeah, Verity knew what she was hungry for and it wasn't dinner.
