MHA #6, Valentine's Day Evening

It was Valentine's Day and while it wasn't their first Valentine's Day together, the last one had still been early enough on that neither of them had really known what they were doing. As a couple. This time, however, 'I love you's' had been exchanged and so had keys, he'd met her family, he hadn't run screaming from her family, and he'd even rescued her from a snake cult. Those were a lot of relationship milestones right there, even if some were Price-exclusive.

So tonight she'd sent the mice off to gorge on cake and cheese in their closet in the spare room, turned the lights to dim, turned some slow music on, and started cooking dinner. The one flaw in her holiday plans so far was that she'd naively assumed that 'an ability to cook basic food' meant that she was fully qualified to cook elaborate romantic meals.

She was vastly learning that this was in error.

"What? Emulsify? I've got a spatula and a slotted spoon, how the hell am I supposed to do that?!"

[For the boyfriend!]

"Wise decision," Liam nodded, taking out his Global and dialing the Thai place as he flopped down on the couch.

"Not just a pretty face, you know," Verity said, winking at him as she pulled up the movie.

"I do know," Liam agreed, once the food had been ordered.

"Love you," he added, wrapping an arm around her shoulders and snuggling close.

"Love you, too," Verity said, leaning into him. He was like a giant body pillow, except hard in just the right places - places that made her tingle. "Happy Valentine's Day."

... Yeah, they could probably still make this Valentine's Day evening a pretty good one, fancy dinner or no fancy dinner.

"Did I say thank you for the roses yet?" Liam asked. He had, as a matter of fact, that morning. And had ended up kind of late for work as a result.

Especially since when he was done thanking her, she had to turn around and thank him.

"Mmm, maybe not," she said, rolling over to face him. "You should thank me again just to make sure."

Where the kisses before had been hungry, almost forceful, this was... slower, sweeter, but no less passionate.

Verity's eyelids were low and heavy when she pulled away, lips Rosy from his kisses. "Okay, we need to at least start the movie before you kiss me like that," she said, voice husky. "Or we're not gonna be in any fit state to answer the door for the delivery guy."

"Sorry," he murmured, sounding not sorry at all. He traced the fingers of one hand along the line of her jaw. "You're hard to resist."

Verity leaned into his caress like a pampered housecat. "I promise, once we get food, we can indulge to your heart's content. But we're not ruining two dinners."

Liam heaved a deeply put-upon sigh. “Fine,” he grumbled, pouting at her.

"I know, you have to deal with so much," Verity said, patting his cheek. "But I'm sure I can find some way to make it up to you."

Liam turned his head slightly, so that he could catch her index finger between his lips, sucking gently. He looked over at her, expression very much like the cat that had caught the proverbial canary.

"Is that a hint?" Verity teased. She leaned down and gently caught his throat between her teeth, before lightly sucking on that spot. Not enough to leave a mark - for now.

Maybe she would mark him. Later. Oooh.

Liam flicked his tongue out, swirling it around the tip of her finger. “Could be,” he said, letting that finger go.

For the record, he would absolutely be on board with this marking plan.

"But now imagine that I'm busy 'making things up to you', and then we're interrupted by the delivery person," Verity murmured, her lips traveling over his throat. "Would you really want me to stop so we could answer the door?"

“... No,” Liam admitted, with obvious reluctance. Ugh, Verity, how dare you with that logic?

Verity picked her head up and grinned at his tone. "Let's just be good and watch the movie, huh?" she suggested. "We can just, like, curl up and hold hands or something."

Trust that smile, Liam! Go on, trust it!

Of course, she was talking to someone for whom, in its own way, ‘holding hands’ was akin to making out...

“Wouldn’t be very nice of us to make the poor delivery person come all the way out here just for us to never answer the door,” Liam mused. “‘Be good’ it is.”

"Good on us for being mature," Verity said, starting the movie and making herself comfortable. On him.

Look, he sat on the couch, she sat on him, it all worked out.

"And as the movie opened up with them in couples counseling, Verity took his hand. And immediately began thinking of the dirtiest things she could.

Oh, Liam. You really should've known better. Not that he was complaining. Nope. That low, desperate noise he made in the back of his throat? Not a complaint.

It was a good thing that connection between them went both ways, because Liam had some dirty thoughts of his own that he needed to share.

"You know," Verity said, oddly out of breath for someone who was just sitting back and watching a movie, "when the food comes we just have to open the door, right? We don't actually have to eat it immediately. Just make sure we have it."

“And that the delivery person gets paid,” Liam added. “S’important.” Because he wasn’t about to be rude to whoever got saddled with delivery duty tonight.

"Yeah, exactly," Verity said. "But once that happens and the door is closed..."

The image she sent him was very detailed and explicit and most certainly did not involve eating dinner while it was still hot.

"But until then," Liam said. "We probably shouldn't... do anything else. That's not sitting here."

You know, because they'd been so successful at that so far.
